Sony is hosting a special PlayStation event that will be livestreamed at 6 p.m. Feb. 20 in New York City. It's expected they will officially announce the PS4, which is likely going to release some time this holiday season.

I don't think the whole event will be dedicated to just the PS4, but I suspect Sony will reveal what the console looks like and some game footage showing its potential. They'll save the juicer details like price and release date for E3 later this year. They'll probably talk about future PS3 games like The Last of Us, and whatever is coming out for the struggling PS Vita. The handheld badly needs a price cut and games if Sony wants it to stay in the handheld arena dominated by the Nintendo 3DS and smartphones. Announcing a price cut there would be a good start.

Feb. 20 will be a fun day.
